75 years on the road, 75 years of history
Paulo Duarte's activity began in 1946 by the hand of José Paulo Duarte who, with a progressive vision, intended to revolutionize the logistics and distribution sector in Portugal. We present below some of the victories achieved over these decades, convinced that the history of Paulo Duarte is still being written, following the same vision of our founder.

PASSING OF THE COMPANY’S MANAGEMENT LEADERSHIP
José Paulo Duarte prepares the handover of the company’s management leadership to his son José Paulo Santos Duarte, who at the end of the decade assumes full responsibility for the management of the Company.
ACQUISITION OF TRANSPORTES GAITINHAS & FILHA
The company Transportes Gaitinhas & Filha, Lda is acquired
Evolution towards Outsourcing in the transport area. Opening of new facilities in the north of the country.
CONSTITUTION OF COMPANY MERCANTIL IBERCISTER, SL
Incorporation of Sociedade Mercantil Ibercister, SL based in Spain.
Entry into the market for the transport of perishable goods – ATP.
EXPANSION TO SPAIN
Always in an attempt to be at the forefront, responding and above all anticipating the needs of the market, it strengthens its position in neighboring Spain with the creation of Transportes Paulo Duarte España, SL, thus assuming the status of an Iberian company. The integration of Transportes Paulo Duarte, Lda., in the European group of transport companies known as Tankceu, makes it the first and only representative of Portugal.
INTEGRATION OF THE “THIRD GENERATION”
The company begins to integrate the “third generation” into its Staff, invests heavily in the acquisition of around 40 new vehicles equipped with the latest technologies, as well as in new facilities.
ACQUISITION OF 60 NEW VEHICLES
It made an investment of 5.5 million euros in the first months of 2009. This amount relates to the acquisition of 60 new vehicles, divided into trucks, tractors, tanks and refrigerators
RELOCATION OF THE COMPANY TRANSPORTAUTO, SA, TO LAMEGO
Acquisition of 50 new vehicles, including cisterns, refrigerators and tractors. Investing around 4 Million Euros. Transportauto, SA company relocation to Lamego with an investment of 1.5 Million Euros
CERTIFICATION IN SQAS
The increasing dependence on systems/applications that support the most critical business processes led Transportes Paulo Duarte to be certified in SQAS (Safety and Quality Assentements for Sustainability). SQAS is not a certification system but an evaluation system that covers Quality, Safety and Environment and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

CELEBRATION OF 2 NEW CONTRACTS WITH RENOWN ENTITIES IN THE FOOD SECTOR
Signing of 2 new contracts with renowned entities in the food sector, which allowed us to reinforce our leadership position in this segment. Entry into TPD’s capital of a new financial and strategic partner, adoption of a new financial management model, which ensure enhanced competitiveness conditions in the short and medium/long term.
INCREASE IN TURNOVER BY 6.5%
Substantial improvement in TPD’s financial and economic position, with the increase in turnover of around 6.5% (2.3 million euros) and net income of 223% (1.8 millions of euros).
INVESTMENT IN A SECOND OPERATING UNIT IN AZAMBUJA
As a result of the increase in turnover combined with the improvement in fuel consumption efficiency, the management policy and fleet optimization, there was a strong improvement in operating results.
IMPLEMENTATION OF THE KAIZEN PROJECT
Investment in the fleet.
Implementation of the Kaizen project.
Work began on remodeling the facilities located at the Headquarters.
Implementation in the integration of OSH and environment management systems.
Certification in Environmental Management Systems NP EN ISO 14001:2015 and Occupational Health and Safety Management OHSAS 18001:2007.
