The Paulo Duarte Group is strengthening its management structure with the addition of Fábio Santos, as it enters a phase of consolidating its growth and expanding its operations in Portugal and Spain.
With 80 years of history and a consolidated revenue forecast of nearly 240 million euros in 2026—announced in August—the Group has been expanding its scale and expertise to keep pace with the growing complexity of operations in the transportation and logistics sector.
In this context, Fábio Santos is responsible for consolidating growth, coordinating the various areas of activity, and advancing management and operational models, with a particular focus on organizational and operational efficiency.
With a career in the transportation sector, Fábio Santos led Sonae’s transportation division until 2025, gaining experience in operations management within the retail industry. He is also a professor at the Nova School of Business & Economics (Nova SBE), where he teaches Financial Management, combining business experience with academic knowledge.
Gustavo Paulo Duarte, Co-CEO of the Paulo Duarte Group, highlights the importance of this appointment:
“The Paulo Duarte Group has reached a scale and operational capacity that present us with new management challenges. Our priority is to make the most of the scale and expertise we have built, strengthening coordination across operations, the efficient use of resources, and the Group’s competitiveness. The appointment of Fábio Santos aligns with this ambition. We are strengthening not only our leadership structure but, above all, our ability to execute our strategy and generate value for our clients.”
For his part, Fábio Santos states:
“The Paulo Duarte Group has built a solid position in the Iberian market, with a scale and level of specialization that represent significant competitive advantages. I take on this responsibility with the ambition of contributing to the next stage of its development, leveraging existing capabilities and strengthening coordination among the different business areas. I believe that the true value of growth lies in the ability to translate it into efficiency, sustained results, and an increasingly competitive response to customer needs.”
This appointment comes amid the consolidation of the Paulo Duarte Group’s presence in the Iberian Peninsula; in August 2026, the group announced the acquisition of the Spanish company Barquín y Otxoa, thereby expanding its scale and expertise in temperature-controlled transportation and logistics.
