The Paulo Duarte Group has just signed a protocol with the Lisbon Higher Institute of Engineering (ISEL) with the aim of supporting the creation of an innovative doctoral programme, which aims to train researchers and professionals of excellence in the areas of optimisation, strategic analysis and artificial intelligence applied to decision-making.
“Innovation and the development of new technologies are fundamental areas for companies that want to grow by increasing the efficiency and sustainability of their operations. The development of agreements with universities has been a winning strategy for the Paulo Duarte Group, both through internship programmes and partnerships for the creation of technologies and research adapted to our sector,” says Carlos Barroso, Director of People and Organisation Management at the Paulo Duarte Group.
The partnership established with the Paulo Duarte Group will allow ISEL students to test and apply advanced methodologies in real industry scenarios, directly contributing to innovation in the logistics sector.
“The partnership between ISEL and the Paulo Duarte Group, within the scope of the PhD in Decision Sciences and Artificial Intelligence (PhD-DSAI) (https://phd-dsai.isel.pt), reflects the shared commitment of both institutions to innovation and the application of scientific knowledge to the real challenges of the logistics and transport industry. This protocol will enable our PhD students to develop advanced solutions in the areas of optimisation, statistics and artificial intelligence, with a direct impact on the productive sector. The collaboration with the Paulo Duarte Group reinforces the recognition and enhances the industrial relevance of this programme,” says José Madeira, Coordinating Professor with Aggregation at ISEL’s Department of Mathematics and coordinator of this PhD programme.
The PhD in Decision Sciences and Artificial Intelligence (PhD-DSAI) is currently under evaluation by A3ES.
